Washington D.C.– Today, Congressman Pete Sessions (TX-17) voted against H.R. 2882, the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024. Following his vote, Sessions expressed his strong opposition to the bill, citing its failure to address border security concerns. Sessions stated, "I voted against today’s spending package because it fails to address the crisis on our southern border. Texans can no longer bear the brunt of illegal migration ravaging our communities."

Sessions, a co-sponsor and avid supporter of the Secure the Border Act, emphasized his commitment to upholding the rule of law at the border, declaring, "I will continue to demand that Congress and President Biden restore the rule of law on our border."

While acknowledging the bill's inclusion of crucial national defense priorities that would benefit his district, Sessions highlighted the absence of key changes to border and immigration policies, as well as other conservative priorities. He remarked, "While this bill included several important national defense priorities that I would support independently, including many that will directly bring jobs to Texas’s 17th District, the underlying package failed to include critical changes to border and immigration policy or other conservative priorities."
